off the fence

Xrlq is finally off the fence about the Miers nomination. Now that he knows that Judge Alito is the replacement nominee, he has chosen to oppose the Miers nomination.

I think this is a bit precipitous since Xrlq doesn't yet know the outcome of the nomination process. What if the Democrats and press mount such a formidable opposition that Bush is devastated and ends up nominating Bill Clinton instead, in an effort to re-unite the country?

I'm still on the fence. I'll come down against the Miers nomination when Alito has been on the bench a decade or so and has established himself as a strong conservative voice on the Court.
